FAQs

Who is eligible to participate?
Parents or guardians of children age 0-21 who are not employees of Seattle Children’s and live in the state of Washington. Panelists must be age 18 or older to participate.

Do I need to be a current or former patient family in order to participate?
No, we are interested in any parents with children 0-21 living at home regardless of their past experiences with Seattle Children’s (if any).

How does the panel work?
You will be sent an email with a link to an initial survey that will ask profiling and demographic questions. Once this survey is complete and you qualify for the panel, you will be invited by email to participate in 1-2 surveys per month.

How will you contact me to invite me to participate?
You will be contacted by email only.

Do I have to participate in every survey you invite me to participate in?
No, but we encourage you to participate as often as time allows.

What if I don’t want to continue participation in the panel?
You may opt out at any time by sending an email to the panel management team.

How often will I be invited to participate?
You will be invited 1-2 times per month on average. We may have specific needs that require responses from a certain type of panelist and in such cases, not all panelists will be invited to participate

When will I receive my first survey invitation?
It will depend on how many interested parties we are able to recruit in the coming months. Our goal is to have the panel operational before the end of 2011.

What is my incentive to participate on the panel?

Since we are a nonprofit hospital, we are looking for volunteer panelists who are willing to share their opinions with us.

How long will it take to complete the online surveys?
It will vary depending on the topic, but the goal will be to keep all surveys less than 15 minutes, with about 20-25 questions each.

Will the panel surveys be conducted in any other languages?
At this time, we will be conducting surveys only in English. 

If I have specific feedback about Seattle Children’s such as a suggestion, comment, compliment or complaint about patient care or services, is Opinion Sandbox the place to share that feedback?
No, Seattle Children’s has a process in place to route feedback so it reaches the people who can address your issue.  Click here to give your feedback. However, many of our surveys will ask for specific feedback about your experiences and will be used to help us make the best decisions possible.

Is the Family Advisory Council part of Opinion Sandbox? 
No, Seattle Children’s has several ways current or former patient families are able to provide feedback.  Family advisors are people who use their family’s experiences to influence decisions and help shape programs and policies at Seattle Children’s.  Click here for more information.
